YWCA of Oahu Receives $15,000 Grant From First Hawaiian Bank Foundation
(Honolulu, Hawaii, June 13, 2013) – The YWCA of Oahu has received a $15,000 grant from the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation, according to an announcement today by Bob Harrison, First Hawaiian Bank's president and chief executive officer. The grant will support the YWCA's Dress for Success Career Center.
The YWCA's Dress for Success Career Center assists low-income women in building economic independence by helping them with job readiness assistance, career development training and job placement. Located in the downtown Honolulu YWCA headquarters, the center features a computer workroom, mock interview office and mobile classroom. Women receive mentoring support from trained volunteers and access to other YWCA programs designed to ensure their success in the workplace.
The First Hawaiian Bank Foundation is the charitable arm of First Hawaiian Bank. In 2012, the Foundation and Bank contributed over $2.5 million to more than 400 non-profit organizations in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan, making it one of the largest corporate contributors to charity in the markets in which it does business. The Foundation funds educational opportunities, access to health care, services for children and youth, human service needs, and support for culture and the arts.
